9th Annual Change Their Lives Extravanganza
It was an unforgettable evening for guests at the 9th Annual Change Their Lives Extravaganza. Once again, San Diego County residents, supporters, business and civic leaders gathered to benefit the children of Casas Seguras and its programs. More than $240,000 was raised for Casas Seguras - a South Bay Community Services program for victims of family violence and their children.
The events proceeds helped:
- 162 women and 366 children receive shelter at Casas Seguras
- 1261 emergency 911 response calls with local police officers
- 1,000 additional hours of support services
- 580 additional hours of counseling to individuals, children and youth
- $164,200 straight to Mi Escuelita Therapeutic Preschool
The evening, themed Dancing with Our Stars, kept a lively pace throughout the night. More than 400 guests arrived in gala attire to a spectacular display of silent auction items and a reception sponsored by San Diego Chargers, Sempra Energy and SDG&E. Guest enjoyed the evening's signature drink by Leblon Rum and bid on a vast array of silent auction items from getaway trips to an action packed day with SWAT!
Performances included Wayne Foster Entertainment, The UCSD Ballroom Dance Team, and the Casas Seguras children. The evening's traditional surprise dance production choreographed by Gretchen Productions featuring some of our own local stars: Assemblywoman Horton graced the stage with a wonderful waltz; Mayor Cox elegantly showed off her foxtrot moves, Sweetwater High School District Superintendent Jesus Gandara and his wife Jenny spiced things up with a Latin Cumbia Mix; and Chula Vista Police Captain Don Hunter and his wife Ranie wrapped up the show with sizzling rumba moves! The evening concluded with music from Wayne Foster Entertainment who helped guests dance the night away!
